Local firefighters take on climbing challenge

Three Mitchell Shire CFA volunteers climb 28 flights of stairs for charities

Three incredible Mitchell Shire volunteer firefighters – Lewis Soulsby, Cassie Capobus-Thorpe and Henry Laurie – recently took on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb alongside 800 other firefighters and emergency services personnel and climbed an incredible 28 floors of the Crown Metropol wearing 25kg of kit. Henry completed the climb in 6.38 minutes and Cassie and Lew both achieved PBs with times of 6.55 minutes and 7.02 minutes respectively.

The event raised a whopping $750,000 for cancer research and crisis support organisations including Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000Foundation and is on track for raise $800,000.

SXG supported the efforts of these wonderful volunteers through donations to each, some of whom have been personally affected by a cancer diagnosis in the family.
