You might soon see people walking around Mt Disappointment State Forest with wire cables that are connected to sensors and transmitters.
This is part of our induced polarisation (IP) survey which involves using sensors to measure how electrical currents flow through the ground to help us understand the underlying geology. It also provides us with information about faults, fractures, geological structures, mineralisation and groundwater.
We expect to start the survey in late September and it will take up to 2-3 months to complete. The survey has been approved by the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Change and will only take place during daylight hours from Monday-Friday. The forest will not close for the survey, no heavy vehicles will be used and no native vegetation will be removed.
If you see the surveyors and would like to have a friendly chat, feel free to say hi and ask how the survey looks in action!
